| What is Famvir?
Famvir is used in infections with herpes viruses and contains Famciclovir. Famvir is active against herpes viruses by preventing the multiplication of viruses.The use of Famvir in tablet form can prevent the spread of the virus in the body.
There are different herpes viruses that cause many diseases. Known agent is the herpes simplex virus type I, the cause of cold sores (“cold sores”). But the chicken pox and shingles (herpes zoster), and herpes of the eye and the genital area are caused by viruses of the herpes group. 90 percent of people have been infected in childhood with herpes simplex virus. The viruses lie unnoticed in the human nerve cells and are only as itchy, painful and very contagious blisters on the skin surface when our immune system is weakened. Triggers can be: illness, fever, stress, sunlight, or menstruation. Also very dangerous course forms of herpes infection are possible if the virus spread throughout the body.

When the drug is not suitable for you (dialysis)
* There is no experience in patients under 18 years and over 50 years
* Patients with low immunity (immunosuppression)
* Severe infection with herpes viruses. This concerns inter alia Eyes, brain and nerves in arms and legs.
Pregnancy and Lactation
* During pregnancy and lactation the drug should not be used.
Famvir Side effects
Listed are the most important known side effects. They can occur, but need not, because each person responds differently to medications.
Sometimes people are allergic to medication. If you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

* Nausea (occasionally)

There is no evidence of interactions with other drugs.
